Kirklees wheelchair Sports Club is focused on rugby and basketball, they are based in Huddersfield West Yorkshire. They are newly established, they started running sessions in August 2014. The club is currently delivering wheelchair rugby league and basketball sessions, and has engaged both mainstream and disabled children and adults. They approached Evergreen Partnership Association through West Yorkshire Sports to help them purchase Wheelchairs, they borrow wheelchairs from the Kirklees Council.
At Evergreen Partnership Association we were delighted with the news of supporting such a group with a lot of life changing empowering ideas. We helped them to purchase one of their “own” wheelchairs. The presentation was very touching, it was lovely to see those beautiful smiles in their faces and they had full of energy during their practice session! We spoke to Glen Holdsworth and the coaching stuff, the project needs more support. The future of the project is to engage more participants to the club, develop a lot of awareness of wheelchair sports and to provide a competitive pathway for participants who wish to compete in the relevant sport leagues.
